Violets

Variety: Johnny Jump Ups

Planting Info

Spacing: 6’’ apart

When to plant: Frost and cold tolerant. Not heat tolerant.

About: Annual Edible Flowers for garnishing. Early spring flowers that stop flowering when summer heats up. Prolific self-seeder.

Special Requirements: picking off old flowers will encourage new blooms

Chrysanthemum

Variety: unknown

Planting Info

Spacing: plant 12’’ apart

When to plant: Frost and cold tolerant. Plant anytime when daytime temps are above freezing.

About: Perennial chrysanthemum. Spreads a bit, but not aggressively. Blooms in fall and flowers can withstand some cold.

Special Requirements: Staking can be helpful, or cut back before buds form so plants are shorter.

About: Great all season spinach variety. Semi Savoy type.

Special Requirements: pick off largest leaves and leave center to grow back: ‘cut and come again’ style
